Does anyone know if Buddy was laid to rest or if he was cremated? Is there a memorial anywhere?

Someone may have different information, but I was told by someone in Nashville who had direct contact with Buddy’s kids that he was cremated and the ashes scattered along with Peggy’s in an undisclosed location. I certainly don’t want to start the rumor mill to running but the question has come up a couple times so figured I’d chime in with what I was told.

This is the Legendary Speedy West's grave marker. Speedy Jan.1924 - Nov.2003) is buried in Floral Haven Cemetery near Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Speedy was inducted into The Steel Guitar Hall of Fame 1980.

This is Steel Guitar Hall of Fame Member Julian E. Tharpe's

This is the grave marker for Julian E. Tharpe. He was inducted into the Steel Guitar Hall of Fame 2008. Julian is buried with the Tharpe Family at the Countryside Peniel Baptist Cemetery, near Skipperville, Alabama.

I am so glad to see all of these Golden Age of Steel Guitar Players be included on the Steel Guitar Forum website. These Guys were all stylists and innovators. They paved the way for all of us who love Steel Guitar!

Yes Herby Wallace was fantastic! He came and played as Special Guest on one of my Steel Guitar Shows 2010. He was such a Great Musician and Funny too. I really liked him and loved his playing!

Ralph Mooney was one of coolest Steel players that I ever met. Loved his style or approach to the Steel Guitar, but he was such a genuine just Good Guy. He had a down to earth, everyday approach to people and just a Good man! I miss these Great Steel Guitarists!
