The 10 string (by sho bud) I have in black with 3 pedal. I believe it’s the student S10 model but am not 100%

The triple neck has no pedals with it. Is that odd?

Looking at the guitar upside down in the case you will see either one or four "bars" that are hinged and can be moved to a vertical position. Those are your "knee levers". They function like the pedals but are activated by your knees. Both models have three foot/floor pedals. Student has one knee lever, Artist has four knee levers.
The correct catalog and price list names for them are "Student Single 10" and "Artist Single 10". Take a clean well lit photo of the complete underside of the instrument. Then we know which model and what mechanism you have. Pull-release instructions will not help you with an all-pull, and vice-versa.
The triple neck was called a "Custom" or "Triple 8 Custom" depending on the catalog or price list. Any one of those with any pedals, levers, or "tuning cams" is an after-market add-on and not original.

Thanks, sorry I’ve posted these other places and am getting lost in all the help. I have no idea how knee levers work but will figure out, no rush. I wanted someone to look at the underside to see if all appears normal. I know you can move the rods around but this is how it was when I got it (from ShopGoodwill mind you)

Let me know if this doesn’t capture enough, this was before I put the pedals on.

My other issue is a broken leg, where the threaded piece is stuck inside the body. Someone put an adaptor on it I think but it doesn’t seem to work so I’m not sure how to either replace the leg or get the old threaded piece out (it’s stuck pretty good, I’ve wd40’d a ton). And I don’t want to epoxy or anything cuz then it’s never able to be taken down.

Thanks again for all the advice! And I assume mine is the student S-10 but let me know, and if there’s a manual that may help with learning, feel free to share. Cheers friends!

WTB 2 pedal linkage rods for Fender 1000 model

Post by Matthew Lutton »

Hey all,
I just got a double neck 1953 Model 1000 pedal steel (read somewhere this was their most expensive product at the time it came out) but it’s missing two hook pedal rods. Does anyone have two spares, or knowwhere to buy or maybe someone to contact about producing replacements?

I know I can ask in other areas and not sure who’ll seek this but thanks for any help you may be able to provide. I’ve reached out to a few stores and saw these but don’t know that any will fit or are the right size: https://www.psgparts.com/shop/category/ ... al-rods-18

Also, remind me if there’s a way to search for members by location / would love to meet some players around me in Indianapolis and know we have em. I’ve gotten into weissenborns heavily as well, and have to force myself to play a “regular” guitar these days!

Re: Pedal Steels/Consoles - May be selling for Move

Post by Matthew Lutton »

If anyone is interested, here’s a list of Consoles and/or Pedal Steels I own that I’d love to sell in the next couple of weeks if I can, as I need to move:

-Gibson Grand Console (believe it’s two necks with a 7/8 configuration, maple sunburst finished body)
-Gibson GC 520(?). Natural or tweed body with red kill switch and both necks are either 6 or 8 string, with controls for both necks and the ability to combine them, etc.

-Fender S10 (same or similar to ShoBud Maverick- 3 foot pedals, one knee lever. Complete with case, one broken leg. See top of this thread to read about that.

-Fender “1000” model pedal steel. I had to have three pedal legs/connector sleeves to fit the large foot pedal design and it came without three pedal linkage rods. It is now fully functional but it’s also the largest item listed with all the parts, and I don’t have a case. I bought a large rifle bag that it barely fits in but it shipping, it would be taken apart carefully with parts labeled and packed so they arrive quickly.

-Fender double, triple, or quad master “string masters”. I’m just referring to anything with the walnut finish as a string master here, but I have a single neck model with no holes for legs, which seems to be a somewhat rare “deluxe” lap steel with trapezoid pickup. I also have double, triple, and a Quadmaster, along with several other Fender Consoles ( a double neck with two single coil Strat like pickups, a bit later or Japanese perhaps). The brown string master models all looked very similar. I do know the quadmaster has 8 trapezoid pickups, which alone is cool.

-Double neck lap steel by RickenbacHER - not a console, but double 8 neck in an ivory finish.

-Triple 8 RickenbacKer (50s-60s) console. Each raise up a bit higher than the last. A very beautiful console when setup, no issues with the huge bar magnet pickups, or anything else.

I believe all but

I also have tons of lap steels but I’m more interested in moving larger items that have cases. Packing is no issue and shipping will depend on where you’re located. I haven’t priced most of this stuff but feel free to EMAIL me if you might be interested. Can always discuss some of my rarer lap models if you’re interested in any console or pedal steels!

Let me know if I need to list prices and I realize this is not the ad section. It was just the easiest place for me to recall the items I wanted to mention.
