MSA D-10 rodding chart
Hi all
I'm just finishing a rebuild for an MSA Super Sustain D-10.
I tried to document everything before I took here apart but as I am installing the rods I realized I know which rods go with which string and pedal, but I don't know for each string which changer hole and crank hole each rod goes to.
Does anyone have any documentation for this?
Thanks
Mark

Re: MSA D-10 rodding chart
While it's great to see the manuals, the MSA manual does not contain a rodding chart
Unfortunately, I failed to get most of the E9th side of the customer's guitar before I pulled the rods (it was gummed up with nicotine, but it's cleaning up nicely)
If anyone has an MSA rodding chart, I'd sure find it handy.
PS: why is this in Electronics? Maybe a mod will move it.

2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)
More amps than guitars, and not many effects

Re: MSA D-10 rodding chart
I had Mitchell Smithy give me a copy of how he rodded my 2021 Jolly Rancher MSA. I ran across it a while back, but might need an Enigma DeCoder to fully understand it. It may be that a "normal" guitar could be pretty standard in their setup, but with more complex setups such as mine, I believe there's more artistry there than it being an exact science. All that said, a standardized chart would be nice to have.Lane Gray wrote: 4 Nov 2025 2:31 pm While it's great to see the manuals, the MSA manual does not contain a rodding chart

Re: MSA D-10 rodding chart
I'd removed the first three pedals before I thought "hey, maybe I should have made a chart!. Fortunately, I have another MSA of my own in the music room. I may put my notes in a handy format and post it here.

Don't know if you can make sense of this or if it will help you, BUT, if it does and you do, please feel free to enlighten me. This is the rodding chart Mitchell made when he set up my Jolly Rancher 10x9 Legend.Lane Gray wrote: 5 Nov 2025 2:07 pm I'd removed the first three pedals before I thought "hey, maybe I should have made a chart!. Re: MSA D-10 rodding chart
The legend has both more holes in the changer and in the bellcrank, as my two MSAs are Classics (plus the Carter MSA, but that's even older)
I think I'll be able to extrapolate this chart to my 2&2 with 4-hole bellcranks.
