Chord location chart

Post by Norman Fulghum »

I finally got a stage one, and learning. My question is I have seen one before but can't find one nowhere now. I saw a laminated chart you put on fretboard under strings that showed chords , also when you used pedals and knee levers. Where can I find one.
Thanks

I've seen those on Ebay. You would do well to get Scottys book on pedal steel. I made my own chart on poster board copying from a book and pinned it on my wall where I sat facing it. There's a few websites from forum members with chord charts if you look in the music instructions area.

At the top of the Forum page, The Forum Store. They have the Mel Bay E9th Chord chart for sale. It has Major, 7th, Minor, Augmented and Diminish chords. Shows pedal and knee levers to raise and lower strings, To make chords, And strings to pick for chords. 6.00+shipping. A great reference for the E9th neck.

Not made to go under the strings, but this thread contains a link to a very handy chart: viewtopic.php?t=147199

The problem with any type of chart is that it is never going to be specific to your exact copedence. I highly recommend getting a copy of PSG Compass which allows you to enter your specific copedent and create charts based on YOUR set up. That program has literally changed my approach to pedal steel.

As Billy mentioned, the app PSG Compass let's you setup your exact copedent, with many options for special and advanced techniques like Splits, Double foot action, half stops and any other mechanism, and shows you all the possible positions for more than 350 types of chords, scales and other learning modes.

You can see all about it in www.psgcompass.com , please watch the videos so you can have an idea of what the app can do.

Cheers
